Natural Setting

The Institute occupies a unique and beautiful setting on UW's Seattle campus. Situated on a waterway connecting Puget Sound to an inland lake, scientists here can enjoy all the natural beauty found in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.

Seasons at I-LABS

Outside I-LABS, the poplar trees along the waterfront depict the changing seasons. They provide a shady lunch spot on a sunny afternoon in summer and provide a dramatic focal point in the snow of winter.

The Building

Prior to moving into labs and research spaces, the Institute's building underwent a significant remodel both inside and out, with improvements and modernization to lights, floors, walls, and power.

Holiday Party '07

Once more, all of I-LABS gathers to celebrate the winter holidays with family and friends. A well deserved break and a chance to share much of the excellent work happening throughout the year.

Goodbye Sharon

Sharon Corina's skills will be missed as she departs for California, at the UC-Davis campus. The Institute celebrated her tenure in the labs with a farewell party on, fittingly, a hot summer day.

Holiday Parties

Scientists, along with their friends and family, relax and celebrate the year-end holidays during the annual holiday party in McCaw Commons.

The "M&M" Team

The graduation and departure of Ming Tsao and Mei Liu, the "M&M" team, from the Kuhl lab was a day of mixed emotions. Both currently collaborate with Dr. Kuhl while holding faculty positions in Taiwan.

Opening Day

The annual Windermere Cup crew races mark the beginning of boating season in the region. This "Opening Day" event draws thousands of locals to the vicinity.
